This position is full-time. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 7:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 6 weeks of paid training. The hours during training will be 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

If you are located within the Eastern Standard Time Zone, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Focused efforts on increasing cash and reducing bad debt.
  • Apply payments and denials to third party carriers in all media types
  • Interpret Explanation of Benefits for appropriate follow up action.
  • Complete refunds/adjustments to customer’s accounts, while providing necessary back-up information in order to maintain accuracy.
  • Contact Third Party carriers to follow up on denied and unresponded claims.
  • Analyze and apply denials.
  • Process and review claims.
  • May have contact with insurance carriers, clients, patients and/or other outside sources.
  • Regular research involving both the web and billing systems.
  • Maintain Compliance and HIPAA standards at all times.
  • Meet or exceed daily production standards.
  • Meet or exceed daily quality standards.
  • Ability to work on various other projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR Older
  • 1+ years of experience in A/R, Billing, or Collections
  • Ability using computers and Windows PC applications, which includes strong keyboard and navigation skills and ability to learn new computer programs
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel - (general spreadsheet navigation, data entry and sorting)
  • Experienced with Microsoft Outlook - (create/schedule meetings, calendar invites, and create folders)
  • Ability to work our normal business hours of 7:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Healthcare experience
  • Previous experience with medical claims processing
  • Medical terminology knowledge/experience
  • Experience with posting cash payments
  • Strong math skills

Telecommuting Requirements

  • Reside within the Eastern Standard Time Zone
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Soft Skills

  • Previous work experience in a fast-paced environment requiring strong multi - tasking and problem-solving skills
  • All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy

The hourly range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
