The Role
At Moderna, our mission is to deliver the greatest possible impact to people through mRNA medicines. Our singular focus is on using our mRNA platform and the innovative infrastructure we have built to deliver a new generation of transformative medicines for patients.
In Biological Science, our primary aim is to accelerate the understanding of mRNA and its delivery through new biological insights. We deploy novel assays and cutting-edge technologies to enhance our understanding of the platform and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance projects/programs within RED, Technical Development and the Clinical side.
We are seeking a highly motivated student to join our Biological Science team as a Summer 2025 Intern. This 11-week internship will primarily support projects/programs that help us answer key questions related to our platform, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in several bioanalytical and in vitro/ex vivo assays.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Involvement in a broad range of bioanalytical, in vitro, and ex vivo research activities aimed at progressing the development of cutting-edge mRNA and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) therapies.
- Support in elucidating the interactions between LNPs and proteins present in biologically relevant fluids such as serum/blood
- Aid in the execution of experiments to help gain mechanistic insights into LNP-mRNA biophysical and immunological profiles, with meticulous documentation of scientific procedures, coupled with the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of research findings.
- Additionally, contribution to the preparation of scientific reports and presentation materials.
Here’s What You’ll Need
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus on Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related Life Science field.
- Strong knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
- Biophysical assays such as Nanoflowcytometry
- Bioanalytical assays (e.g. protein quantification techniques such as Western blotting, ELISA)
- In vitro cell/tissue culture
- RNA Purification, qPCR, and/or other Molecular Biology techniques
- Personal attributes: Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team yet demonstrate independent work ethic and a proactive approach to problem-solving
At Moderna, we believe that when you feel your best, you can do your best work. That’s why our US benefits and global well-being resources are designed to support you—at work, at home, and everywhere in between.
