Job Description

We are the team responsible for building the NoSQL JSON document storage features of Oracle Database. Our current projects include:

  • A MongoDB-compatible endpoint that translates the MongoDB wire protocol to SQL
  • Enhancing Oracle SQL syntax to support JSON document processing
  • Extending Oracle JDBC and other client libraries for JSON processing
  • Developing innovative storage and query processing techniques to handle JSON efficiently
  • The Autonomous JSON Database – one of Oracle Database’s flagship managed cloud offerings


Our work spans both conceptual innovation and hands-on engineering. We invent and patent new storage, query, and indexing technologies, contribute to open standards (SQL, JSON Schema, etc.), and undertake large-scale implementation projects. Given the high demand for our innovations, we also engage with customers and present at conferences.

Who We’re Looking For

We seek engineers with strong expertise in:

  • Data structures, algorithms, and system-level programming (Java or C)
  • Databases (SQL or NoSQL) and semi-structured data models (JSON, XML) — experience in these areas is a plus

Responsibilities

As a software developer, you will be responsible for defining, developing, debugging and maintaining code (database and client). You will take an active role in the definition of new requirements and from time to time engage with customers to gather new requirements or explain functionalities to help them succeed.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 - $223,400 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  • Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
