The Engineer IV, Software is an experienced professional who participates in leading, creating and extending Omnicell products. This person is a solid developer who can apply industry and corporate best practices to produce quality applications. This person applies their practical and theoretical knowledge from Computer Science and previous experience in Healthcare or a related industry. This person works as part of a team to design and develop new products as well as maintain Omnicell’s current portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Provide technical leadership for the architecture, design, and implementation of Omnicell software solutions
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand business requirements
  • Lead discussions and estimations required for product release planning
  • Collaborate with software quality engineers in all phases of testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team on documentation and training
  • Conduct code reviews for fellow team members, as required
  • Create unit tests to help ensure code quality throughout the application’s life cycle
  • Understand how Omnicell solutions meet our customers' needs and how our suite of products are used across the continuum of care
  • Grows and mentors other engineers


Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in backend development using C#, particularly within containerized environments (Docker & Kubernetes).
  • Experience working with both Windows and Linux environments, adapting to each platform's specific requirements and tools.
  • Expertise in Object oriented analysis, design, and programming (OOAD, OOP)
  • Expertise in using design and refactoring patterns
  • Experience with hardware state systems and third-party libraries (such as stateless)
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle management
  • Proficient in distributed source code control like Git
  • Understanding of Internationalization / Localization
  • Proficient in implementing and troubleshooting custom protocols for serial ports and TCP/IP communication
  • Strong understanding of low-level firmware specifications
  • Proven experience with AngularJS for front-end development.
  • Strong experience in developing multithreaded applications, with a deep understanding of concurrency and thread management.
  • Ability to document technical designs, code, and processes effectively, including creating detailed Word documents when required.
  • Demonstrated leadership/prioritization experience in an agile environment.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics or other Science/Engineering field plus 8+ years hands-on experience in software development OR 12+ years hands-on experience in software development in lieu of a degree
  • 5 or more years of hands-on experience in C#, C++ Java or similar object-oriented programming language.
  • 3 or more years of demonstrated experience in software architecture and design.


Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other engineering fields of study
  • Healthcare or Medical Device software development experience
  • Understanding of Inventory / warehouse management


Work Conditions

  • On-site: Office Environment
  • Location: Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania
  • Travel requirements: less than 10%

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without Omnicell sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to pass background and employment verification checks
  • Able to work from assigned location without housing or relocation assistance from Omnicell
