We are seeking a Facility Operations Supervisor to motivate and build trust. You will lead our production driven safety conscious team in Tacoma, WA. Responsibilities include but not limited to for front line leadership supervision of plant operations including shipping and receiving and blending.

  • Performs supervision of department and site-specific plant operations, including, but not limited to, truck and rail loading/unloading, tank farm operations, scanning applications for Waste tracking.
  • Supervises and mentors’ union employees.
  • Training and development of new hires.
  • Following up to ensure they are trained properly and signed off Ability to streamline and improve processes.
  • Able to review all applicable standard operating procedures (SOP’s) annually and score satisfactorily on quizzes.
  • Acts as the recognized subject matter expert in their area(s) of responsibility.
  • Ensures that employees follow and maintain all applicable Health and Safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures, and all other site-specific policies and procedures and holds employees accountable when they do not.
  • Ensures that supervised operations/ employees understand and have ownership for area specific permit required compliance standards.
  • Writing various permits such as HOTWORK
  • Works under the direction of the S&R Manager or equivalent.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in their areas of responsibility.

What does it take to work at Safety-Kleen?

  • High School or equivalent
  • 3+ years supervisory type experience in an industrial environment (Petro-Chemical exp is a plus!)
  • Experience managing union employees
  • Proven problem solver
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Experience writing HOTWORK permits, and other permitting is a plus!
  • Proficient MS Office Suite – Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Rail and Tanker knowledge dealing with liquids is an asset
  • Fair leader who motivates and builds trust
  • Ability to streamline and improve processes
  • Must work well under pressure and pivot as needed
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Computer literate
