The Role
QuidelOrtho is looking for a Performance Management Standardization Intern that wants to spend their 2025 summer working towards our mission: Changing Lives, One Test at a Time. Interns will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop their skills all while contributing to key company projects and initiatives. Our team will help students apply their educational background and broaden their knowledge base within their role and learn more about working in the medical device/biotech industry. Interns will work with a mentor(s) on a guided and impactful project and will be able to collaborate with and be part of a supportive and dedicated team.
To develop process standards and performance metrics based on time studies to align with movement to paid for performance methodology.
This Internship is a full-time (40 hours per week) paid program for 12-weeks.
Start dates are June 2nd or June 16th, 2025
Office Location:
Memphis DC - Students must be in the area for duration of the program. QuidelOrtho is unable to provide housing accommodations.
The Responsibilities
- Intern is responsible for the development, implementation, documentation, and support of the engineered production standards as well as the development and implementation of best-method practices in a high-volume distribution and logistics operation.
- Intern works directly with Operations Managers and Supervisors during the development and implementation of best methods, standard conditions and the engineered labor standards.
- Develops best methods, standard conditions and engineered labor standards for multi-variable production operations
- Identifies and evaluates improvements in methods, procedures, and workflow that increase productivity, and decrease operating cost
- Coordinates the implementation of engineered methods, standards, and reporting systems - including conducting standards introduction meetings and analysis presentations with associates, supervisors, managers and director.
- The intern will be tasked with creating a comprehensive final product that outlines the standardized processes for each building function. This deliverable will demonstrate their ability to understand and apply the organization’s standards effectively. The intern will then present their work in a PowerPoint presentation to both their peers and the leadership team. The presentation will focus on detailing the steps taken to implement these standards, highlighting key achievements, and discussing any challenges faced during the process. This experience will allow the intern to hone their communication skills while contributing to the broader organizational goals.

The Individual
Required
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in the Fall Semester 2024 at an accredited university or college
- Courses in industrial engineering studies
- Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher
- Able to start on either June 2nd or June 16th
- Ability to complete a consecutive 10-12 week internship
- Must have work authorization in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
- Ability to create identify, understand and create standard processes
- Collaborate with peers professionally and challenge status quo
- Experience using MS Office Suites (Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Strong Mathematical and analytical capabilities.
- Available to work varying schedules across 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts as needed
- The ability to think in terms of process flow and identify operational component operations and interrelationships.
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with non-exempt associates, operational supervisors, and upper-level management.
Preferred
- Rising Junior or Senior at an accredited university or college
The Work Environment
No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary range for current Freshman, rising Sophomore is 18.00/hour; Sophomore, rising Junior is 20/hour; Junior, rising senior is $23.00/hour to $26.00/hour; Senior, enrolled in school for fall 2024 is 25.00/hour to 28.00/hour; or currently enrolled Graduate, MBD, PhD program is 28.00/hour to 30.00/hour. At QuidelOrtho, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
