We are seeking a summer associate to join our Corporate Strategy & Development (CS&D) team and help support our mission to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.
Corporate Strategy and Development sits at the intersection of our Executive Leadership Team, our private equity board, and our industry leading product platform. The team drives key enterprise growth-oriented decisions such where and how athenahealth competes and where resources are deployed.
During the summer of 2025 you will report directly to the Executive Director of Corporate Strategy and have full ownership over a meaningful growth-oriented project. As with all CS&D roles, this role is highly visible and will allow you interact with leadership across the company. The output of your work has the potential to meaningfully contribute to the growth and expansion of the enterprise, while showcasing your talents in strategy and analytics.
This job is for you if you are future oriented, pragmatic, analytical, and have a track record of driving growth through strategy new business incubation. You are an MBA student completing your first year. You may have had prior experience in consulting or in product-management type roles. You have executive-level professionalism and process along with the ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders. Finally, given the subject matter of our work, you must possess unimpeachable ethics and a deep respect for confidentiality.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
Work on and deliver a project that supports the development of a strategic program / initiative, aligned to athenahealth’s long-term strategy, which drives organic or inorganic growth by:
Quickly becoming a subject matter expert in the sub-market or concept in scope for the project
Structuring, leading, and distilling market research and landscaping into actionable insights to inform your proposal and recommendations
Developing supporting financial and analysis to quantify your business case and recommendations
Work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders across the company to drive towards consensus and buy-in for your project recommendations
Gain exposure and a deep understanding of athenahealth’s business and role in the healthcare industry
Education & Experience Required:
Must be pursuing an MBA with at least one semester left in your program
Experience in Healthcare is helpful
Experience in Consulting, Investment Banking, or Private Equity a plus
Willingness to be based in Boston, MA
