The
Health Information Manager is a working management position that includes oversight of the daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) department. This role involves managing staff, implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, with a specific focus on behavioral health records. The manager is responsible for the accurate and efficient management of patient health information in compliance with healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA. This role involves organizing, analyzing, and securing health data, supporting the access of patient information, and maintaining the integrity of electronic health records (EHR) systems.
This position is full time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, can have flexibility based on candidate needs and/or location. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the HIM department staff, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality performance.
- Train new and existing staff on process, new initiatives, and rules that impact HIM
- Implement HIM policies and procedures tailored to behavioral health.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and laws, including HIPAA, regarding patient privacy and data security.
- Oversee the release of information processes.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to behavioral health.
- Provide training and support to HIM staff, fostering professional development.
- Ensure the teams confidentiality and security of behavioral health information.
- Process and fulfill requests for health information from authorized personnel, patients, or external agencies in accordance with laws and organizational policies.
- Identify and resolve issues related to health information, including discrepancies in medical records.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and secure sensitive health information against unauthorized access.
- Collaborate with leadership, clinicians, staff, vendors, and patients to improve health information management practices.

Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma / GED or equivalent work experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, or other relevant certification in Health Information Management.
- 5 + years of experience in health information management, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
- knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and data entry software.
- Understanding of healthcare regulations, medical terminology, and clinical workflows.
- High degree of accuracy and thoroughness in managing patient health information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with healthcare staff, patients, and external entities.
- Ability to handle sensitive health information with a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and security
- Can travel up to 0% - 10%.

The salary range for this role is $49,300 to $96,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
