Temp - Quality Assurance Technician

Omnicell has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our team at our Milpitas, CA manufacturing facility. As a member and representative of Omnicell’s Quality Assurance department, this individual’s primary function is to perform quality inspections on product for customer shipments and support Manufacturing Operations. This individual may be responsible for CMM inspections of product. This QA department member will also be cross-trained to other QA Department functions, as required, to fulfill QA’s supporting role for other functional organizations, companywide.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform functional quality tests on material accurately and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Record and report results of inspections, failure analysis, material discrepancies, and defect data using SAP, Microsoft Access, and other related databases as needed.
  • Perform detailed visual inspection of material to determine product quality where limits may not be clearly defined.
  • Coordination with Production line technicians and/or supervisors when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are noted.
  • Assist with failure investigation and make recommendation on disposition of questionable product.
  • Data collection, analysis, and creation of presentation material for metric reporting and trending.
  • CMM measurements of product using a pre-configured program.
  • Creation or modification of work instructions for inspection and product improvements.
  • Act as a liaison between Quality and other Omnicell functional departments.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Good organizational, listening, and verbal / written communication skills with demonstrated ability to follow instructions and processes.
  • Able to be proactive and self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of Quality concepts and terminology such as ISO 9000.
  • Understanding of engineering and manufacturing terminology and processes.
  • Able to comprehend engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Able to interact and communicate with all levels of Omnicell staff.


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience within manufacturing/production/quality environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or Quality/Mechanical/Electrical Technician Certification.
  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • CMM measurement or programming experience.


Work Environment:

  • Required to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to have a wide range of movement to be able to move material within facility.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Excessive noise due to high foot-traffic, assembly equipment and/or forklifts
