Clinical Validation Consultant
The Clinical Validation Consultant – Internal Validation plays a leadership role in the design, planning, development and validation of next-generation medication management solutions. As a senior member of Omnicell’s Internal Customer Validation team, this position requires a passion for ensuring that pre-Generally Available (GA) products meet our internal and external customers’ needs.
Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Maintain clinical licensing and certification requirements
- Stay current on leading pharmacy industry trends in acute and non-acute settings, state board of health, board of pharmacy and federal regulatory requirements, in order to provide guidance to internal stakeholder teams on impacts to product development.
- Provide clinical input into product design activities and workshops. Examples of areas where clinical input may be requested include: Board of Pharmacy check waivers for inpatient and retail settings, 340B programs, Drug Supply Chain Security Act, Controlled Substance Handling and Controlled Substance Ordering System(s), Sterile compounding, and Pharmacy Information System(s).
- Support strategic conversations between Omnicell Stakeholders and Customer Clinical Leadership such as the Director of Pharmacy, Director of Nursing, and Anesthesiology team members.
- Support Engineering and Product Management with targeted data analysis activities for external validation activities.
- Support Product Management and Engineering in onsite visits and discussions for new functionality.
Non-Clinical Responsibilities:
- Participate in workshops or other product design activities to provide input into clinical and operational workflows
- Participate actively with core product development teams, product management workshops, design reviews, stakeholder meetings, and external validation activities providing clinical and operational input to ensure that newly developed products are installable, the product enhancements will meet customer needs and that the implementation process is repeatable and sustainable.
- Work with Product Management and Engineering, and/or Customer Experience to define customer validation success metrics, plans, and timelines
- Work with Product Management and Engineering to produce qualitative and quantitative product assessments to product development teams and management
- Represent the Internal Validation function to both our Product Development Team(s) and our external validation customers
- Evaluate product readiness during development in validation labs prior to external validation at a customer site
- Manage internal expectations to ensure alignment with the overall project/program objectives
- Establish regular communication strategy (status meetings, calls, etc.) with appropriate development teams
- Review and test deliverables defined in Internal Customer Validation Plan (e.g., documents, tools, support materials) in the customer environment / Assess any operational components that require editing or creation
- Document feedback about product function observed in our Internal Validation Labs
- Attend appropriate meetings to provide verbal feedback about product function observed at our Beta sites
- Evaluate product readiness prior to deployment at our first validation customer Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships
- Demo completed features so supporting teams can develop “best practices,”
- Provide constructive feedback on implementation considerations for deployment of new products and software releases
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Ability to learn new technologies in non-traditional ways, before formal classes and documentation are available.
- Ability to create new methods and procedures to advance team initiatives
- Ability to deal with uncertainty and to work productively with constantly changing requirements, specifications, and priorities during the agile development process.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) and comfort level with direct communication to the senior management level.
- Desire to help other departments in the company as well as external customers succeed through development of field-tested training, best practices, lessons learned and related programs.
- Strong aptitude toward mentoring and leadership of team members during the execution of project activities
- PC skills with strong Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, and SharePoint capabilities.
- Detail oriented with excellent problem solving, organization, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated history of cross-functional collaboration, customer-focus and ability to create visible value.
- Passion for driving operational success within new product launches
Basic Qualifications
- Clinical Degree (e.g., R.Ph, PharmD., BSN or MSN)
- 2 or more years of experience with hospital pharmacy or nursing operations and workflows
- 5 years of work experience with clinical software implementations and/or management in an acute or non-acute healthcare setting and/or a healthcare vendor setting.
Preferred Knowledge And Skills
- Specific knowledge of Omnicell product offerings and customer base
Work Conditions
- Remote Environment
- Preferred ability to work at Cranberry Woods office (Pittsburgh)
- Position requires 25% travel mostly to Cranberry Woods lab location
