This is a hybrid position based in our Akron, Ohio corporate office with a typical schedule of Monday-Thursday in office with a remote working arrangement on Friday.
The Sr. Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, development, implementation and evaluation of learning programs, (including new hire, leadership development, mentoring and on-going training) and web-based instructions to meet the emergent needs of identified learners. Success in this role requires knowledge of adult learning theory and skill in developing training through various modalities including eLearning, blended learning, and asynchronous and synchronous instructor-led facilitated learning and supporting learning communities. This position has a vital role in making sure that all developmental activities are based on the foundations of Servant Leadership and supports the Culture and growth strategy of our company. What You Will Be Doing
- Lead on agreed L&D projects to continue the development of our learning programs within our L&D strategic framework.
- Utilize instructional design strategies to design, develop, manage, conduct and evaluate course curriculum that is scalable, innovative, and meets the needs of learners; estimate timeline and resources.
- Facilitate and coach self-guided learning for front-line personnel, manage learning communities and keep learning community leaders informed and engaged.
- Design tools, aids, guides to support learners in applying skills.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and HR Business Partners to design career maps and related learning paths for each function.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of courses by creating and implementing measures to track outcomes and ensure alignment with business goals; collaborate with employees to ensure rapid adoption and further development of courses; design assessment strategies to determine whether desired learning and performance outcomes were achieved.
- Develop and increase engagement and usage of our online learning platform to ensure an excellent user experience.
- Support wider talent management activities working collaboratively with HR, Performance Management, Succession Planning and the Culture team to achieve people priorities
- Partner with the Human Resources team during the onboarding process to ensure a seamless integration into the company.
- Conduct curriculum review and further develop the review process to support the continued improvement of courses; collaborates with subject matter experts to validate content.
- Apply knowledge of adult learning theory to identify and recommend appropriate training delivery methods based on audience, course content, and point within the learning process.
- Coordinate and monitor yearly compliance training.
- Promote learning culture by sending regular updates to employees.
- Audit Employee Development Plans, support employees and managers to create and maintain those development plans, partner with the appropriate stakeholders to identify and address learning gaps of employees.
- Be a change agent for the business by positively influencing the culture through educational programs and informal interactions.
- Lead the mentoring program, coordinate schedules, train mentees and mentors, do regular check ins to ensure the success of this program.
What Will Make You Successful
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education, Design, Adult Education, Psychology Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job
- Have at least 2-3 years’ experience of delivering learning interventions within a professional setting that develop both technical skills, as well as business and soft skills
- Excellent oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with executive presence.
- Ability to train and coach various levels of employees.
- Be experienced in the design, delivery and evaluation of learning in a variety of formats including eLearning (experience of Articulate 360 is preferable), on-demand micro-learning (such as resource guides and videos) and live virtual and face-to-face workshops.
- Demonstrated ability to compose clear, concise, conversational, grammatically correct documents.
- Desire to continuously seek outside perspective on technology.
- Ability to embrace and learn new technology.
- Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm
- Highly organized and experienced at successfully multi-tasking.
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and techniques
- Experience with LMS integration and SCORM packaging is and advantage.
- Experience with LinkedIn learning and Franklin Covey’s Impact platform is an advantage.
