The role of the Manager, Specialty Pharmacy Operations is an exciting opportunity to take charge of day-to-day specialty operations across multiple contracted partner locations. This position will be located on site at our client partner, Aspirus Health, a 501c3 non-profit, community-based health system that has locations in some of the most beautiful areas throughout rural Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and they offer a level of care you would expect of more urban settings. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- You will provide oversight of operational responsibilities at partner sites, covering new and established growth programs at client sites.
- Reporting on program performance, you extract and summarize reports and performance metrics via Salesforce.
- You assist with the development and implementation of processes essential for specialty pharmacy program growth.
- Managing day-to-day program operations and processes related to the specialty program, you ensure all standards are met.
- Identifying areas for program improvement, you collaborate with your team to devise solutions and support implementations.
- You are responsible for overseeing designated staff at client sites to support the specialty pharmacy program.
- Handling scheduling and time card management of all staff, such as managing scheduled and unscheduled time off and coverage assignments at deployed sites (pharmacists, liaisons, etc.), you ensure the program is adequately staffed for operation.
- You provide day-to-day performance management and accountability to all dedicated account staff, in conjunction cross-functional teams.
- Actively participating in interviewing, hiring, orientation, onboarding, and recurring training of staff is one of your key responsibilities.
- Creating a positive work environment and fostering teamwork and partnership at all levels is a top priority for you.
- You support consistent engagement between in-clinic and pharmacy services at partner sites.
- You serve as a direct liaison for all matters related to the specialty program and clinic workflow with clinical staff and providers.
- Understanding clinical service needs, translating them into program standards, and addressing challenges and roadblocks by devising solutions and alternative approaches are areas where you excel.
- You work directly with pharmacy teams to ensure the successful operation of the specialty pharmacy program and support with special projects as requested.
- You achieve local target goals by developing tactics to ensure ongoing client success.
- You coordinate clinical care programs aligned with partner health system objectives through the management of on-site staff.
- You are focused on maintaining strong relationships with business units, clinical staff, and client leadership to ensure the success of programs.
- You address partner inquiries promptly and with a high level of service.
- You adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization and ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws, accreditation standards, regulations, and rules.
- You have a comprehensive understanding of the 340B drug program, insurance navigation, and basic pharmacy liaison workflows.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelors or PharmD Pharmacy (B.S. or PharmD) is required.
- MBA or other business degree preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Must be currently registered as a Pharmacist with the Board of Pharmacy in the state of residence of the client.
EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of relevant experience in pharmacy and prior leadership experience is required.
- Epic, Meditech, Cerner, and QS1 systems experience is highly desired.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare personnel, both within and outside the department, in resolving situations and demonstrating leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of pharmacy procedures, systems, and equipment, coupled with a high level of proficiency in their execution.
- Previous oversight experience involving pharmacy-related aspects in outpatient/ambulatory clinics.
- Strong analytical abilities to assess and enhance current pharmacy services and procedures through comprehensive data gathering and evaluative research.
- Exceptional organizational and personnel management skills, serving as a role model and ensuring a collaborative approach to operations.
- Proficiency in standard healthcare office software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Access, web browser), coupled with knowledge of pharmacy and clinical database systems (e.g., QS1, Centricity, Meditech, Cerner, EPIC, SCM, etc.).
- Self-management skills with the ability to work independently, displaying initiative, strong work ethic, and the capability to identify issues or opportunities requiring attention and change.
- Adept at creative problem-solving in resource-constrained situations, with the flexibility to adapt and formulate alternative plans as necessary.
- Demonstrated proficiency in process improvement skills and acumen.
Special Working Conditions (On-call, travel, shift, coverage):
- Required to travel locally to assigned sites primarily consisting of 20% remote and 80% on-site.
