The Opportunity

This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA office in in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

We are seeking a high caliber Financial Analyst who will focus on Finance tasks supporting Heart Failure Operations for the Pleasanton manufacturing site. This includes preparing financial budgets, workforce planning & analysis, assisting with monthly financial closing activities, analysis and review of operating results, assisting business partners with all required finance tasks, ad hoc analysis, and presentations.

What You’ll Work On

  • Participate in month end close activities, completing journal entries, reconciling month end results.
  • Monitor functional and departmental spending versus budget by highlighting material variances using system generated detail and trend reports.
  • Drive and support the coordination and consolidation of rolling Latest Best Estimates (RLBEs).
  • Prepare journal entries and assist in month end close as needed to ensure proper accounting at the functional and departmental level.
  • Prepare and distribute financial reports and packages by gathering and analyzing information related to current performance.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial requests from leadership.
  • Cultivate a wide range of internal networks of resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
  • May demonstrate basic project management skills by acting as a project lead on small, well defined projects.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize own daily work routine to meet established schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance and accounting, or related field
  • 2+ years of full-time finance and/or accounting experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment, successfully prioritizing deliverables, meeting deadlines and fulfilling leadership requests without sacrificing quality.
  • Ability to leverage slower periods to proactively get ahead and manage busier periods more effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree / MBA preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience with SAP, Business Objects and Hyperion Smartview/Essbase
