SUMMARY: SUMMARY: The progressive pharmacy internship program allows students to function under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and serve as a pharmacy extender while developing a knowledge base and competency level of technical and clinical duties that assist with quality pharmaceutical care. Functions performed as an intern include but are not limited to:drug preparation and drug distribution, admission medication history, medication counseling and patient education, drug information, drug dosing, participation in educational experiences, and engagement in scholarship. The pharmacy intern ensures that patient care is maintained under the supervision of a clinical pharmacist through compliance with the rules and regulations promulgated by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy and the department's policies. EXPERIENCE: Must be currently enrolled in the first year of an accredited School of Pharmacy. OTHER: P1 Year will focus on medication preparation and dispensing, automated central distribution, non-hazardous and hazardous sterile compounding, automated dispensing cabinets, controlled substance management, maintaining pharmacy records, customer service, and medication safety. LICENSE/CERT: Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association), Pharmacy Intern - State of Missouri EDUCATION: Required: High School or Equivalent
