The Project Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the lab supervisor. This position has a unique role in the department acting as the department's conduit between external and internal personnel and clients. This role requires leveraging technical expertise to ensure adherence to established protocols and regulations, by utilizing in-depth knowledge of laboratory practices. This incumbent will manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines and complexities, demonstrating effective prioritization to achieve department goals.
This position by necessity must have the Customer Service Acumen of not only being able to understand the client's needs with short sometimes rushed conversations, asking pointed questions to determine the appropriate response; but also, the ability to adapt to changes and updated information as services and regulations change. This position will use several web-based and digital platforms including but not limited to Microsoft Office products and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Work Schedule...
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flexible hours such as early, late and weekend shift may be required.
Essential Functions...
- Collaborate and generate innovative ideas involving department sample inventory tracking employing techniques such as accurate labeling to simplify identification and improve accessibility.
- Manages multiple projects and daily tasks, coordinating inside and across multiple departments and groups within the company.
- Service as the primary communication link between the client and laboratory personnel.
- Requests details and aids in Out-of-specification investigations, requesting additional samples or materials to complete investigations.
- Maintains work area, desk, and digital files in an organized manner to locate information accurately and efficiently from multiple sources.
- Answer clients' calls and emails that involve details of testing and results, via email or phone, promptly and professionally that reflects the department and company.
- Adhere to, use, and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Laboratory Safety Equipment and identify hazards that may arise.
- Complete all safety training including but not limited to OSHA, Departmental SOPs, and Company Compliance.
Position Requirements...
Associate Degree or related Science Field– or equivalent Diploma with...
1 year of experience in customer service and 1 year of experience in the scientific field.
Bachelor’s degree in a Science (Chemistry, Biology, biochemistry) or equivalent Diploma is preferred.
Experience in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is helpful
Work Environment...
This job operates in a laboratory environment. Attendance at the office is required.
This is a safety sensitive position as defined by state and federal laws that will require working with hazardous materials and/or handling medicine. As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands...
This position often requires standing for prolong periods of time; dexterity in fingers and hands to perform complex and precise manipulations; ability to walk and stoop; ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs; see in the normal visual range including the ability to distinguish colors and shades and hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
