Optum Match is looking for an Engagement Director who can lead the collection of important customer experience and marketing research insights, and use those insights to effectively engage patients and clinicians as we deploy our people-centered model of:

We are looking for a highly skilled Engagement Director to lead customer awareness, adoption, and engagement with Optum Match so that we can meet our goals of attracting patients and clinicians to our products and delivering a person-centered experience. The Optum Match team values authenticity in how we communicate and engage with our stakeholders, and so we need an Engagement Director who understands the needs and perspectives of diverse groups of people. This role is housed within Optum Match’s Research & Engagement team and will lead our engagement initiatives, including: market research, advertising campaigns, patient and clinician preferences research, development of evidence-based patient and clinician engagement strategies, customer-facing communications, identity-centered care educational programs, and community-based outreach and engagement. The Engagement Director will use market insights as well as research evidence for patient and clinician preferences to develop innovative marketing and promotional materials/programs in collaboration with organizational marketing and customer success teams. The Engagement Director will be our champion for ensuring patients’ and clinicians’ voices are authentically represented in all marketing strategies and communications.
An important part of our business plan is to track the value we bring to all of our stakeholders, and so the Engagement Director will be responsible for tracking costs and returns associated with all engagement, marketing, and program activities. This role will manage engagement aspects of internal and external collaborations, and is responsible for leading patient and clinician marketing activities in collaboration with medical clinics, doctors’ groups, health organizations, and other groups who adopt Optum Match. This role will collaborate with Optum Match’s Product & User Experience and Client Success teams to align product design and sales with our marketing and engagement strategies. Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct marketing and population-specific attitudinal research to build and deploy evidence-based patient and clinician engagement strategies
- Create person-centered marketing campaigns to create awareness and adoption of Optum Match by patients and clinicians
- Build trust to successfully engage and retain stakeholders long term
- Develop population-specific engagement approaches and outreach materials and campaigns that are informed by a deep understanding of the barriers to accessing care faced by underserved populations
- Manage patient and clinician feedback interviews and surveys to support creation of specialty matching surveys and ensure product experience meets the needs of patients and clinicians
- Conduct in-depth tracking and reporting of engagement activities, costs, and ROI
- Manage legal review and approval of all Optum Match communications
- Define Optum Match’s brand and voice and work with UX, Business Development, Product, and Customer success to ensure consistency of branding and voice across all products and programs
- Work with vendors and other organizational teams to develop identity-centered care educational materials and programs for patients and clinicians

Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience leading market research and engagement strategy
- 5+ years of experience leading engagement strategy directly related to patient populations
- Experience creating direct-to-patient and direct-to-clinician engagement campaigns and programs
- Experience with population health approaches to understanding and prioritizing patient needs, especially for underserved populations
- Experience marketing through traditional, digital, and social communication channels
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading and managing teams
- Experience working with patient and clinician organizations or non-profits
- Proven highly skilled storyteller who excels at taking the perspective of patients and clinicians
- Proven highly adaptable in a dynamic environment

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
