The Career - What You Will Do
Apothecary Products, LLC (APL) is currently seeking a Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will implement strategic sourcing strategies within assigned categories to support APL's category growth, profitability, timelines, and continuity of supply objectives. You will be involved in identifying and managing new suppliers, providing leadership in a cross-functional team environment for sourcing, demand and risk analysis, commodity expertise, supplier selection, and terms that meet company and consumer needs.
This role is exciting because it offers the chance to collaborate with diverse teams and to drive strategic sourcing initiatives. Additionally, it involves managing supplier relationships, conducting audits, and continuously improving processes, all of which contribute to the APL's success and innovation. This position is based at our manufacturing and distribution headquarters in Burnsville, Minnesota, with a hybrid work setting requiring regular onsite presence 3 days per work week.
The Opportunity
- Collaboration: Work effectively with internal cross-functional teams (Marketing, Project Management, Supply Chain Planning, RD&E) to understand APL sourcing needs and select the best suppliers to achieve long-term goals.
- Strategic Initiatives: Support organizational strategic initiatives through the entire lifecycle of projects from spend analysis to implementation and new supplier onboarding.
- Supplier Audits: Conduct necessary supplier audits (commercial, financial, technical) to ensure a robust and capable supply base.
- Project Support: Support QLT (Quick Launch Team) projects and Legacy item initiatives, including strategy execution.
- New Product Development: Participate in NPD projects as a core team member, aligning key strategic suppliers and capabilities with new product development needs.
- Supplier Involvement: Drive early supplier involvement with NPD to achieve development objectives, timelines, and cost reductions.
- Risk Management: Identify market and sourcing risks; work with stakeholders to define and execute mitigation plans.
- Supplier Evaluation: Lead supplier evaluation, selection, and integration associated with the request for proposal process, including negotiations.
- Performance Reviews: Establish and manage supplier relationships, including leading performance business reviews with stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster a system of continuous improvement that complies with all organizational quality policies and supports ISO 13485 and other necessary certifications.
- Inventory Optimization: Collaborate with NPD/Planning teams to support optimization of inventory levels and material flow.
Qualifications + Experience:
We Seek Applicants With These Critical Skills And Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 8+ years' experience in a sourcing, procurement or new product development environment
- Experience working with international suppliers
- Experience within a regulated industry (food, consumer goods, medical devices, cosmetics, etc.) or range of industries preferred
- CPIM, APICS or other relevant certifications preferred
- Proven project management skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of MRP, supplier management, category/commodity management, strategic sourcing, negotiations and contracting concepts
- Track record of success influencing, driving results and working effectively in a cross-functional team setting
- Proven ability to cultivate an active network of relationships within and outside of the organization
- Strength of character and confidence to communicate across broad audiences
- Proven ability to successfully navigate conflicting priorities, pivoting to meet time-sensitive needs
- Curious and self-motivated
- Demonstrated problem-solving capability using fact-based decision making and creative thinking
- Able to effectively negotiate conflict
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including proven verbal, written, and presentation skills
