The Ambulatory Infusion Center Pharmacist- Oncology interprets oncology physicians’ prescriptions, oversees sterile compounding activities and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines. Consults with pharmacy leadership and clinic providers to ensure safe and efficient compounding, preparing and dispensing of oncology therapies in the outpatient oncology infusion center. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements.
Compensation Range: $72-$109 hourly, varies dependent upon the candidate's experience. We are also offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for this role, along with relocation assistance as this applies.
Hours: Full-time; Monday to Friday ranging from 7am to 6pm PST, no weekends and closed major holidays.

Responsibilities:
Serves as the clinical pharmacy expert in the area of outpatient oncology services, sterile compounding and integrating advanced knowledge and training to ensure desired service and patient outcomes are achieved
Responsible for the dispensing of outpatient medications; verifies prescribed medications according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements.
Consults with patients regarding medications or supplies prescribed, including dosage, frequency, specialized requirements and possible drug interactions.
Coordinates with Providers and other essential clinical staff to ensure medication regimens are reviewed and accurate prior to patient administration.
Reviews and evaluates patient's plan of care for obvious conflicts.
Collaborates with Oncology Pharmacy team and Pharmacy Leadership on financial optimization opportunities and help to ensure regulatory compliance with regards to the 340b program.
Monitors the overall performance of staff members to ensure compliance with policies, practices and approved pharmaceutical dispensing processes.
Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and record keeping.
Makes recommendations to the manager regarding any changes to operating procedures in an effort to facilitate smooth customer service operations.
Performs prescription verification of oncology and infusion orders, order entry and verification of IV admixtures, provides technical guidance to pharmacy technicians and documents all clinical interventions.
Responds to customer inquiries, requests and issues when situations get escalated to a higher level of authority other than a customer service associate.
Provides consulting on pharmaceutical matters to various levels of personnel regarding pharmacy operations.
Participates in regulatory body surveys, fielding questions and matters related to compounding, and other pharmacy related operations and services.
Participates in departmental meetings and in-service training for pharmacy technicians.
Works collaboratively with organizational personnel on quality, satisfaction, service excellence, clinical care, etc. as needed.
Serves as preceptor for pharmacy residents and interns
Supervises activities relative to customer files and contacts, ensuring that they are updated as needed to comply with current licensing.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Bachelors of Science Degree or PharmD degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy, current unrestricted pharmacist license through the California Board of Pharmacy. Minimum of 2 years clinical hospital pharmacist experience or completion of PGY1 residency is required. Experience in sterile compounding or oncology experience preferred. Completion of pharmacy residency in Oncology preferred.
