Job Description
The Agile Product Owner (APO) is responsible for partnering with Engineering to deliver Retail Pharmacy & Health Plan solutions and evangelize the product. As one of the key leaders in product development you will work with a Product Manager, where you will represent the voice of the customer and the vision of the product throughout the product development life cycle.
You are responsible for working with customers and key stakeholders from across the company to bring a voice and story to the customer feature requests, new product development, and technical features.
Holding the ultimate accountability for the product definition that best meets the needs of our customers and our business, you will bring your strong leadership and organizational skills to bear to maintain a steady release plan for the product. Recognizing the limitations of resources and time you will be responsible for negotiating trade-offs at the appropriate interval during each development sprint. You will order and manage the backlog of user stories and product defects to ensure that the work defined for the team is meaningful to the customer, yet realistic and attainable for the development teams.
Essential Functions:
- Passionate understanding of customer needs as it relates to the product line backlog.
- An ability to advocate for and manage the value of the product line release at the executive level.
- Work with Product Managers, key technical resources, and other cross-functional groups to identify stories to be added to the backlog
- Maintain the backlog of user stories and product defects based on business value at the product line level
- Communicate and advocate the product line vision
- Lead and communicate the release plan for the product line
- Engage with development to commit backlog items to sprint deliverables (negotiate on what gets put in each iteration). Clearly make tradeoffs between sustaining items and new value in the marketplace.
- Work with the larger organization to communicate and make tradeoffs to meet corporate objectives
- Work with development teams to address questions / concerns during sprints
- Work with Product Management to understand and validate customer needs. Lead customer validation practices.
- Identify opportunities across product lines and lead efforts with other APOs to bring business value across product lines. Objective is to optimize development and bring greater value to the market.
- Work with Marketing and Product Managers to identify and communicate value propositions for features and functionality.
- Communicate and educate internal team members on how the product features and functions fit into the product portfolio. Advocate for features across shared teams. Make trade off decisions in coordination with other product teams to support responsibilities across shared teams.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent communications skills: written, verbal, group presentations
- Flexibility to partner with and negotiate with various personality types at all levels within and outside the organization
- Effective leadership skills and ability to listen, communicate and motivate teams to achieve results
- Ability to guide and mentor colleagues for effective decision-making and leadership abilities
- Strong leadership skills
- Experience with SAAS business product offerings
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years’ experience in product development using Agile methodology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharmacy/Healthcare/Health Plan Experience
- Experience with JIRA or similar backlog management tool
- Experience with Aha! or similar road mapping application
- Certified Scrum Product Owner® Certification
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and (e.g. AWS) concepts
Work Conditions:
- This position is 100% remote enabled from any US based location
- This position requires up to 10% US based travel
- Certified Scrum Product Owner Certification not necessary but preferred a top skill
- Great communication skills and customer focused
- No SAAS required
- Working with Product Manager to see what is on deck/roadmap and work on defining user experience. Would break down user stories to deliver the product to the end.
- Able to see the product vision and some of the bigger new things that can address customer stories.
- Coordinate with Engineers and break down the user stories
