Security Officer

Position Summary:
As a Security Officer, you will report to the Belfast Security Manager who leads the efforts and activity of the Belfast Security team. Our Security Team takes pride in providing a safe and secure environment for athenahealth employees, clients, and visitors. Security Officers at athena enjoy helping employees and visitors with varied inquiries. You are analytical, inquisitive, and curious about the security of our company, our sites, and our people. You ask questions, seek answers and love new challenges.

You will be a key contributor to the Global Security Operations Center in the event of a crisis situation that would threaten safe and secure business operations. About the Team:
The Global Security & Services (GSS) Team ensures the safety and security of all athena assets, employees, and clients by providing essential corporate security services for atheanhealth US (United States) and international office locations. This diverse team of experts provides concierge-level services to athena employees while also managing risk to our personnel and operations through a robust set of security policies, programs, and awareness campaigns. The GSS Team is a part of athenaEnvironment.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform Security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a company vehicle utilizing handheld Track Force device.
- Provide assistance to customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Verify authorized visitors and guests for entry into the facility.
- Activate alarms or call first responders in case of fire, medical emergency or presence of unauthorized persons or threat.
- Watch for and report on irregular or unusual conditions that may create security risks or safety hazards.
- Support on site security requests from employees.
- Document all shift activities in the daily activity report.
- Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
- Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, parking concerns or carrying forbidden articles.
Typical Qualifications
Valid drivers license
Associate degree or higher in any discipline
Service in the active-duty military, military reserves, or National Guard
Service in auxiliary police or police cadets
Meaningful and verifiable work history
Minimum of one year verifiable and successful professional security experience
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, as well as willingness to learn and use new security software programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility, Intellectual Curiosity and Enthusiasm for Change
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
Must be able to work flexible schedules and respond to work assignments with little to no advance notice.
Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military.
