Responsibilities
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support the engineering team in optimizing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring product quality. You will work on hands-on projects that involve analyzing production systems, troubleshooting, and implementing improvements within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position offers valuable industry experience and professional development opportunities.
Assist in evaluating and improving manufacturing processes to enhance quality and productivity.
- Support the design, implementation, and optimization of production workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and production teams, to identify areas of improvement.
- Create and update technical documentation, such as process instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform time studies and capacity analyses to identify bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization.
- Assist in troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
- Assist with process validation and testing to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Provide support for new product introductions, including tooling design and equipment setup.
- Conduct research and report findings to support engineering projects.
- This position will provide technical, hands-on engineering and project management for manufacturing equipment, automated production lines, and related equipment in the production of plastic closures
- Manage CapEx projects and make recommendations regarding new technology and processes to improve quality, productivity and overall manufacturing efficiency
- Responsible for manufacturing efficiency, quality, and scrap reduction
- Utilize data to identify trends to guide continuous improvement activities
- Support and troubleshoot multi-discipline machine technology to include mechanical, electrical, controls, PLC’s, vision systems, and drives
- Provide process and mechanical training to current and new operators and technicians
- Provides technical support in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
- Adherence to all applicable Safety, GMP, Food Safety and Plant Policies.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with simulation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
