Position Summary
Averaging 13,000 prescriptions filled per months.
This position, working under the supervision of a pharmacist, assists in providing safe and appropriate medication compounding services in accordance with department policies and procedures, the Arizona Board of Pharmacy rules and statutes, and all other applicable regulatory entities. The Compounding Pharmacy Technician Specialist has primary accountability for all aspects of non-sterile hazardous and non-hazardous medication compounding and plays a significant role in the coordination of patient services. This position must maintain position specific competencies in accordance with Pharmacy Department competency requirements and must also maintain competencies for all primary job duties required for the Pharmacy Technician l position. This position reports directly to the Outpatient Pharmacy Manager. This position also receives supervision from Clinical Pharmacists, Lead Pharmacists and/or Lead Pharmacy Technicians.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
Experience
- One or more years of experience as a Phoenix Children?s Outpatient Pharmacy Technician. (Required)
- One year of non-sterile compounding experience. (Preferred)
Certifications
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Arizona. (Required)
- Current Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA). (Required)
- Non-Sterile Compounding Certification (Preferred)
- Current BLS Certification (Preferred)

- Experience with pharmacy information software systems. (Required)
