Job Summary

Supervisor for our
Supply & Equipment Logistics Team located in
Mattawan, MI.
A
Supervisor is responsible for: management of staff, as well as work processes and/or data within a specific department. An individual in this position ensures that business objectives are met in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements, company and departmental policies, and regulatory standards. The Supervisor is also the liaison between staff and the next level of management, communicating expectations, business needs, and opportunities for improvement. A Supervisor is expected to work, at times, in the area where staff is working, which may involve exposure to animals, chemicals, and/or biohazards.
Supply & Equipment Logistics is a team dedicated to centralizing services across a large organization. Customer service is integral to success in this role as well as strong organizational skills and strategic thinking. Constant process improvement will be required as this team adapts to business need changes while looking to expand services. Creation, evaluation, and maintenance of infrastructure to support growth and efficiency across multiple departments is necessary for success, with preferred experience in logistics, stock maintenance, and supply chain management.
The pay for this position is $70,000/yr USD. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
Essential Functions
- Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws to include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and completing annual performance review on or before due date; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Oversee and is responsible for the performance of staff, including their work schedule and accomplishments; resolves issues and concerns of the staff.
- Serve as a liaison between staff, other departments, and management to communicate expectations and business needs and determines how the group will get the work accomplished.
- Monitor and review departmental records and data to verify completeness and accuracy, this may include databases and tracking logs.
- Identify and implement opportunities for staff skills and career development, as well as for process and procedure modifications.
- Drive effective communication; works with staff and management to provide direction and obtain feedback; identifies and communicates to management opportunities for process improvements; solves problems and implements solutions.
- Complete any quality investigations and observations, as necessary.
- Provide supplies and resources required for staff to complete their assigned duties/work.
- Use, track, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment utilizing best practices and in accordance with GLP and GXP requirements.
- Review documentation of functions performed as part of quality control requirements.
- Order and track the delivery of non-stock items in support of customers.
- Monitor supply levels and order stock items in support of a variety of customers; Manage departmental supply and equipment inventory.
- Support capital purchase requests.
- Operate in compliance with applicable local, federal, and international regulations
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Education: HS / GED required. Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in Supply Chain Management/Logistics or Biological Science, preferred
- Experience: Supply chain management, inventories management, and/or leadership experience preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above
- Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), commensurate with essential duties, including the ability to learn a validated system
- Demonstrated ability to consistently and effectively produce high quality results, interpret requirements, troubleshoot quality issues, and record accurate study and departmental data.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, make quick decisions, communicate decisions effectively, and lead/manage staff in a growing, changing environment
- Demonstrated ability in long-term organizational planning
- Demonstrated ability in meeting the needs of a variety of customers
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent decision-making and self-manage under the direction of a manager
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization
- Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts; sometimes on short notice
- Ability to work under specific time constraints
